On 10 September 2015, MARTIN Caldeiras Lda., a wholly-owned subsidiary of MARTIN GmbH für Umwelt- und Energietechnik, was registered in the commercial register for Portugal. MARTIN Caldeiras Lda. is based in Caldas da Rainha, approx. 1 hour's drive north of Lisbon.

MARTIN Caldeiras engages in manufacturing boiler spare parts, applying Inconel coatings and offers service activities for boilers. Through the range of products offered, MARTIN is specifically extending its activities in the field of services for grates and boilers and therefore closing a gap in order to provide a fully comprehensive support service to customers.

Shock Pulse Generators

The Shock Pulse Generator (SPG) is a device that is permanently installed on the boiler wall for the online cleaning of boiler surfaces. In a fully automatic process, the combustion of gas mixtures generates shock waves, which are transferred to the boiler. With more than 650 systems installed in 20 countries, this innovative technology has proven its worth since 2009. Plant operators confirm that the system significantly increases the boiler service periods, thereby promoting higher efficiency and profitability in their plants.

The foundation of our American subsidiary expands our international network, allowing us to suit our services even better to our customers' requirements.

MARTIN Environmental Technologies is headquartered in Denville, New Jersey, approx. 1 ½ hours' drive west of New York. By combining offices and warehousing in one location, the branch office is ideally equipped for providing plant and modernization services as well as spare parts deliveries in North America. As the management has decades of experience in the waste-to-energy industry, MET will be in a position to provide tailor-made solutions.

Our American subsidiary will be pursuing its business activities in close cooperation with the specialist departments at the Munich headquarters. This will allow us to offer MARTIN's widely appreciated quality from a regional base, and hence reasonably close to our customers. We can thus close a crucial gap in our portfolio of modernization and service activities, thereby guaranteeing comprehensive customer support throughout the service life of our technology on site.

In May 2023, MARTIN GmbH für Umwelt- und Energietechnik acquired Loibl Förderanlagen GmbH (Loibl), a company based in Straubing, Lower Bavaria. With Loibl, the MARTIN group extends its portfolio by a manufacturer and supplier of conveyor systems. The company's acknowledged process knowledge makes Loibl a competent plant manufacturer for varied economic sectors and branches of industry.

Loibl was founded in 1960 and is considered to be one of the leading global suppliers of tailor-made conveying solutions for all kinds of bulk material with specific expertise in and a particular focus on the energy sector. In Straubing, more than 140 staff members design, develop and manufacture cutting-edge conveyor systems and custom machines. The company's international customers include users in the power generating industry, the residues treatment business and in various kinds of the food and basic materials sector.

KÜTTNER and MARTIN have long-standing experience as plant manufacturers in their respective fields of activity. KÜTTNER contributes fluidized-bed technology, tried and tested for the thermal treatment of sewage sludge, as well as expertise in the optimization of the overall process. MARTIN offers a wealth of long-standing experience in the thermal and biological treatment of residual material as well as an extensive network of local and global contacts. Combining their business activities in the field of the thermal treatment of municipal sewage sludge established a sound basis for forming a new plant manufacturer. As a full member of the MARTIN group, the resulting company can today ideally utilize the synergies with MARTIN GmbH to establish the basis for future growth.

Together, KÜTTNER and MARTIN are majority owners of WÜRZ GmbH, a specialist for heat recovery systems with a wide variety of applications that is based in Willich near Düsseldorf. WÜRZ can refer to numerous completed projects for the steam and thermal oil boiler-based recovery of heat following the mono-combustion of sewage sludge. The holding was entered into on the basis of a trusty and successful cooperation the companies have enjoyed for many years.

In 2020, KMT GmbH took over the sewage sludge combustion activities and corresponding references of OUTOTEC. Above all, however, very experienced specialists for planning and implementing plants for the treatment of sewage sludges could be enlisted and integrated into the company. In addition to the Munich headquarters, another operational centre was established in Butzbach near Frankfurt.
